Island Air said Tuesday that it is teaming up with two global sales agents to provide the Hawaii airline with services in Japan and South Korea.
Hawaiian Network, a Tokyo-based sales and marketing firm with a focus on promoting tourism in Hawaii, will represent Honolulu-based Island Air in Japan. Iconnect, a leading sales, marketing and public relations consultancy in Seoul, will represent the airline in South Korea.
Island Air said the new relationships are part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to grow its leisure, commercial and group business and expand into new and emerging markets on the Mainland and throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
“Island Air is excited to partner with Iconnect and Hawaiian Network, two firms that have proven track records in building brand awareness and strategically positioning Hawaii tourism businesses in the Korea and Japan markets, respectively,” David Uchiyama, the airline’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “We look forward to working with Iconnect and Hawaiian Network to promote Island Air’s interisland service while also helping to create new opportunities to market Neighbor Island destinations to Korean and Japanese visitors.”
Emily Kim, Iconnect’s CEO and managing director, was previously contracted by the Hawaii Tourism Authority to represent the state in South Korea. She worked closely with Hawaii tourism and government officials to help expand service to the Islands by Korean Air and Asiana Airlines and to start service to Hawaii by Jin Air.
Hawaiian Network, which has an 18-year history of promoting tourism in Hawaii, will help Island Air build brand awareness and increase sales activities in key Japan markets. Over the years, Hawaiian Network has served as the Japan sales and marketing representative for several Hawaii hotels and resorts, a Kauai golf club and a tour company on the Big Island.
