하와이관광청은 아이플러스커넥트 커뮤니케이션(대표 김은미, 이하 아이커넥트)을 새로운 한국사무소로 선정했다고 지난 2일 공식 발표했다. 새 한국사무소는 지난 1일부터 업무를 시작했다.
아이커넥트 김은미 대표는 지난해 중순까지 아비아렙스마케팅가든에서 이사직을 역임하며 하와이관광청 업무를 담당했던 인물이다. 새 한국사무소에 합류한 구정회 부장 역시 과거 아비아렙스에서 하와이관광청 업무를 담당한 경력이 있다.
하와이관광청 데이비드 우치야마(David Uchiyama) 부청장은 “김은미 대표는 지난 10여년간 하와이 한국인 방문객 수를 늘리는데 큰 기여를 해 온 장본인”이라며 “김 대표가 이끄는 새로운 팀이 하와이 여행시장의 또 다른 성장을 가져올 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
아비아렙스마케팅가든은 지난 2004년부터 2014년까지 10년 동안 하와이관광청 한국사무소를 맡아 왔다. 데이비드 우치야마 부청장은 “지난 10년 간 한국시장에서의 하와이 인지도 제고에 큰 기여를 한 아비아렙스의 노고와 헌신에 깊이 감사한다”고 전했다.
김은미 대표는 “새로운 하와이관광청 한국사무소를 맡게 돼 매우 기쁘다”면서 “하와이는 한국인들에게 지속적으로 인기를 얻고 있는 여행지인 만큼 앞으로도 꾸준히 하와이를 부각시킬 수 있도록 참신한 프로젝트들을 진행하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 아이커넥트 측에 따르면 지난해 하와이를 방문한 한국인 수는 전년 대비 10% 증가한 19만4,870명이 될 것으로 예상된다. 한국인 방문객의 소비액은 전년보다 10.6% 증가한 3억6,660만달러(한화 약 4,034억원)로 집계된다. 02-722-5233
